Roadtrip to Voss


Team #StartupExtreme went on a road trip to plan the event of the year! 


On our way to Voss to check out some of the venues and distributors for Startup Extreme (SE)! Lookout Voss, we are coming for you!

Who would say no to delicious beer??

Voss brewery was started in 2012
by Jon, Dag and Jeanette.

Three passionate home brewers met
through skydiving and paragliding
at Voss.

This was the beginning of Voss brewery, the first microbrewery in Hordaland.

Since then, they have focused on brewing high quality beer and we’ll be lucky to taste their brews again at SE!


Geir Løne, known as the ‘smalahove king’ will be serving up a traditional Voss favourite - sheeps head at SE. This tradition takes us back to the 1700’s, where it all started with scorching between 50 – 100 sheep heads per year for family and friends. Today, they serve 70.000 heads a year and 140.000 meals. Smalahovetune is the only smalahove producer in the country. For any first-timers, don’t leave Voss without sampling this must-try dish – you won’t be disappointed!

One of the activities you can choose at SE is a windtunnel! Voss vind is the only vertical, recirculating wind tunnel in Norway! 

What about a new ingredient in your tacos? You can even eat them straight from the bag! We had the pleasure of visiting Larveriet in Voss, a startup that is first in line to trial legally producing insects for human consumption.

Larvaes is a great source of nutrients and they taste so good! Additionally, the production is sustainable, because of it’s small use of water, area and energy requirements. They are the first Norwegian produced larvaes straight from Voss!

Keep an eye one your plate, you may find them hidden in on of your dishes at SE!
